Concepts of Print: Left to Right Directionality
• Write a sentences. 
• Place a green dot under the first word, and a red dot on the last word 
(green means go and red means stop).

Match Uppercase Letters
• Give students one set of Uppercase Letters
• Place one set of letters around the room. Have students find their match.

Review Name:
• Distribute Name Cards
• Post a few Letter cards on the white board.
• Have students place their name under the letter on the board. 

Sight Words: see, a
• Map it, Spell it, Read it, Write it

Read Connected Text
• Display or Distribute the text.


Independent Reading
• Introduce- What does it mean to work on our own? Review Book Baskets. 
• Model how to tell if its too hard (3 fingers)
• Practice- Give students an opportunity to practice reading on their own.
