Concepts of Print 
• Say a sentence aloud. 
• Count each word with fingers. 
• Write the sentence. 
• Point to each word and count. 
• Point to each space and explain. 

 Alphabet Recognition: Sequence 
• Review Alphabet 
• Play the ABC Song while pointing at the letters 

 Trace Name 
• Introduce yourself "My name is____" 
• Model how to read the sentence frame and write our name. 
• Give students the opportunity to practice writing their name. 
• Have students share their name with a partner. 

 Sight Words: I 
• Map it, Spell it, Read it, Write it 

Read Patterned Text 
• Sentence Frame: "I ____" 
• Read the sentence frame and encourage students to read and fill in (verbally). 


Phonological Awareness 
 • Use Heggerty Program. 
• Go over the different activities and movements.
